Our independent accommodation for artists, visitors and community in the Calder Valley
The IOU Hostel is an extension of the IOU Creation Centre and an unique way for IOU to engage with local residents and visitors to Calderdale and to support artists, creatives, and the cultural ecology of the region.
With 14 rooms sleeping up to 40 guests it provides space for artists to relax, plan a project, hold rehearsals or team away days – all set in the vibrant town of Hebden Bridge, surrounded by stunning gardens and woodlands and set close to the Pennine Way
For artists and creatives working in our Dean Clough studio and workshops it provides accessible overnight accommodation in private or shared rooms, all ensuite.

Exclusive Hire
IOU Hostel is available for exclusive self-catering hire, perfect for special occasions, artist retreats, conferences, board away days, festivals, and more.
Artist in Residence
The Hostel is also home to our Artist in Residence. The residency includes living rent and bill free in a self contained artist apartment to develop their practice and create an art project in response to their time spent living at the Hostel.

Hostel Active Hub
The IOU Hostel is now an local Active Hub — funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority - here to help everyone get outdoors, get active, and explore the beautiful Calder Valley. Throughout 2026, our programme will include guided walks, rides and runs, hands-on skills and creative workshops led by experienced practitioners.
