Journeys : Nidra Sound in Nutclough Woods

23/7/26, 7.30pm. Programmed by Journeys, Nidra Sound is a beautiful fusion of gentle breathwork, Yoga Nidra and sound meditation. Starting from the IOU Hostel, take a 15-minute walk along a woodland track to the secluded location, allowing the journey itself to become part of the experience. Tickets available now

Running Confident with St Pol Striders

11/7/26, 11.30am from St Pol Carpark Hebden Bridge. If you have been curious about joining a running group but haven’t quite taken that first step yet. Or whether you’re brand new to running, returning after a break, or simply feeling unsure, this is a relaxed and supportive session to build confidence at your own pace. Free and no need to book just come along.

Nutclough Woods Sound Walks

5/7/26, 12pm & 2pm. Join us for a guided walk through Nutclough Woods walks led by Jane - in partnership with Sowerby Bridge Walkers and Ramblers. Along the route, you’ll encounter artist Brian Acton’s Flock speaker installation-an immersive woodland soundscape designed to encourage deep listening and closer attention to the natural environment. Whether you’re completely new to walking, cycling or running, or looking to rediscover your confidence and motivation, the Hostel offers friendly support, practical advice, and inspiring opportunities to help you take the next step.

Throughout 2026, our programme will include guided walks, rides and runs, hands-on skills workshops led by experienced practitioners, and informal sessions designed to help you get the most from your equipment and plan safe, enjoyable routes in the local landscape.

At the Active Hub you’ll also find local maps, guidebooks and online access to route information — as well as a chance to meet like-minded people and become part of a growing active community.

As part of the IOU Creation Centre as an established arts space, the Hostel will also host artist-led workshops that offer creative ways to connect with nature, movement and place.
